FW: Bluebird in red rosa rugosa - watercolors

The bottom in red, white, blue - the object was to paint the subject twice using a different combination of red and blue for each version. First we made color charts of the red and blue paints on our palettes. The second painting is done on a printer copy of one of my previous line paintings. I wanted to see whether my ink jet ink would hold up and take the wet paint without dissolving or bleeding. It is on copy paper. Wrinkley yes. Mounting it to good paper with glue stick would restretch the paper and smooth it. The copy paper is acid free but not rag or cotton. It takes the paint better than the cardstock by this company (Georgia-Pacific).

FW: Bluebird n rugosea roses line paintings to color

The first part of this "birds and blooms" lesson was to draw a scene combining the two reference images. Paint it directly using black paint and a fine or rigger brush. Do it as if it would be a coloring page for someone else. Do it again. These are my demonstration paintings.

FW: Boats @ Mcloons Spruce Head Maine - quickie watercolor painting

The photo is a few years ago. I've got two drawings of this sitting just waiting for me to get at least one painted. I like the drawings as they are though, so I'm stalling. In the meantime here is a quickie with no underdrawing. It is on a 1/4 sheet of cardstock - small.

Father's Day and More on Barbecue - some quickie watercolor cards.
Topic: Life
Father's Day painting by Catinka Knoth

This painting for Father's Day is a spin-off from the project we did this week in kids' art class.

A quickie painting - barbecues perhaps must speak of times Dads spent with their Dads - camping, hunting, fishing - and, back to long, long ago, when the tribe worked together to hunt, prepare the meal, and eat - everyone taken care of.
